Students' Achievements

The July 2014 cohort of students at KYUEM obtained exceptional results at Cambridge ‘A’ level.

The statistics tell their own story:

Headmaster, Dr. Paul Rogers, said, “We continue to achieve magnificent results at A level which enable our students to enter some of the finest universities in the world. They are extremely well taught, but most importantly, they have a real desire to excel: we are privileged to aid their success year on year.”

Seven students with offers from Cambridge University and one from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) account for the highest achievements of the current cohort. Other top-rated US and UK universities are also well represented

25% of the students gained at least three grades at A*.

KYUEM students exclusively take Cambridge International Examinations at A level. CIE is internationally renowned as a leading European awarding body for those wishing to enter world class universities.

Our successful candidates 2016

Every year, KYUEM’s results compare very favourably with the best British independent schools. Moreover, it is important to remember that the mother tongue of most of KYUEM’s students is not English.

Over and above examination success, KYUEM aims to educate holistically via an impressive range of extra-curricular and sporting activities. Universities greatly appreciate this and of course, such endeavours bode well for students’ future careers. KYUEM, therefore, is justly proud that its graduates leave with a multitude of skills derived from an extensive leisure and social programme. These include the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate in teams, practise leadership and acquire the maturity demanded of aspiring young people today.

Most KYUEM students aim to study overseas, predominately in Great Britain, although a growing number also choose the USA and Australia. Additionally a significant minority continue their studies in Ireland or opt for one of the British campuses in Malaysia .The majority of students with offers from prestigious institutions amply fulfil their entry requirements and go on to enjoy a very successful academic career. A high proportion of students eventually obtain first class honours degrees. Among the most popular choices in the UK after Oxford and Cambridge, are Imperial College and Queen Mary College London, College, the London School of Economics, University College London, Warwick, Bristol, Manchester as well as Edinburgh. Trinity College (Dublin), University College Cork and Royal College of Surgeons are among the more popular schools in Ireland besides a range of top-class medical schools in British Universities. Other destinations of this year’s students also include Princeton University, University of California, Los Angeles, University of California, Berkeley and the University of Pennsylvania in the USA besides Melbourne University and the University of New South Wales in Australia.

These academic achievements reinforce KYUEM’s position a leading pre-university college in South East Asia. A two-year or 18-month KYUEM education programme is not just about success at A level: it provides students with a thorough preparation for adult life.
