AS is half of the A2 grade marked as a^, b^, c^, d^, e^ or U, while A2 is the full subject grade marked as A*, A, B, C, D, E and U.
The KYUEM structure requires AS and A2 to be taken together at the same time for 18-month students. If AS examinations are taken in November and A2 in June, students tend to neglect their A2 lessons. The “linear programme” run at KYUEM has been very successful. Students on the 24-month programme sit for the AS examinations at the end of their first year and the A2 papers at the end of their programme.
